Yarrow cassette/digital out now

For a few years now, Allanah Stewart have been playing music together, mostly privately, with occasional live excursions (only once as a duo, and another time with Michael McNab). Our debut release YARROW is out now. There is a limited run of 30 cassettes, cradled in gorgeous packaging that has been handmade by Allanah (handsewn pouches with pressed botanicals encased inside). Now, more than half of these are already gone in pre-orders, so if you’d like one please don’t hesitate. We will also keep a handful aside for our launch gig next week (see below). Or you can purchase the digital version on Bandcamp.

And next Thursday (7 August 2025), we launch YARROW at Dimensions of Incomprehensibilities (at Merri Creek Tavern, 113 High St, Northcote). Also playing is Jessica Aszodi/Lizzy Welsh, and Tom Kazas.

Clinton Green & Allanah Stewart cassette launch

Allanah Stewart and I launch our debut cassette “Yarrow” at Dimensions of Incomprehensibilities, Thursday 7 August 2025 at the Merri Creek Tavern.

Copies of the limited edition of 30 cassettes are going fast. You can order online, and we will hold a handful over for the night. Digital also available.

Clinton Green & Allanah Stewart “Yarrow” pre-order

Clinton Green & Allanah Stewart “Yarrow” digital cassette PRE-ORDER now.

Murky, swirling, whirring and organic, Clinton Green & Allanah Stewart indulge in jams where listening is deep, and the music sifts through your fingers like sand.

Baby blue/pink hand-labelled cassette, housed in a hand-made pouch, with dried botanicals sewn into each one by Allanah. Each object is a unique, beautiful object, limited an edition of 30 hand-numbered copies.

A launch gig is planed for Thursday 7 August at Merri Creek Tavern in Melbourne, stay tuned for details.

We Called It New Music: panel discussion

We Called It New Music is a two-day celebratory performance event featuring experimental artists who performed at the artist-run Clifton Hill Community Music Centre (CHCMC) between 1976 and 1983, alongside contemporary musicians responding to its legacy.

I’ve been invited to be part of a panel discussion as part of the event, with David Chesworth, Warren Burt, Judy Annear & Helen Grogan, on Saturday 12 April at 6pm.

The event takes place over two days at Lithuanian House, North Melbourne, beginning the previous evening on Friday 11 April. Full details and tickets here.

History of Quiet Noise

At the most recent Quiet Noise (the annual backyard show focusing on un/low amplified experimental music), there was discussion over the traditional veg biriyani about how many events there had been, what had happened during COVID, who played when and with whom. Ernie Althoff thinks he has been to all of them except one, and he praised the consistent quality of the series over the years. I struggled to remember some details, so decided to go back through the archives and pull some details together.
