Winter Railyard Event – Thursday 28 June 2018 (meet at 7:20pm, at a location to be advised)
Performers: Clinton Green, Radio Cegeste, Michael McNab
Bookings – cdgsham@gmail.com (places are limited, bookings are essential)
Winter Railyard Event is a site-specific, invite-only performance with limited audience numbers. It follows on from the sound and projection performance I gave at Quiet Noise VII in March. This performance will take place in restricted areas without permission. Audience members will meet at a location near Tottenham station (details given closer to the event) before moving through various performance locations.
The event will go for approximately 60-70 minutes
We would appreciate a donation for our efforts on the night (recommended: $5-$10).
Photos by Rick Evertz of the event written about here.
On 12 May 2018, I played a turntable duo with Ernie Althoff at a private house show in Bayswater. The three videos below document pretty much the entire performance of three pieces.
We played back-to-back to follow a concept of not being aware of each other’s turntable preparation, which was changed for each of the three pieces. Ernie and I have been working on an album using this concept (but with remote recordings), which should be out later this year.
The third iteration of Ren Walter’s Intersection event/non-event will take place from 11pm to 1am on Friday 18 May 2018, on the corner of Swanston and La Trobe Streets, Melbourne.
Ren writes about the concept:
For those who have not participated in such an event before; there is no expectation of performance. The process for me has been one of traversing/ being present at the location without necessity to overtly perform, although certain things have happened that would perhaps contradict that statement. For me, INTERSECTION began as an investigation into the when of performance alongside the how and what of performance…No formalities are undertaken just turn up and find your own way.

Next week I’ll be participating in GAIPscape at MAP Rainbow on Saturday 28 April, in Rainbow, Western Victoria. Organised by Tony Yap, the festival kicks off at 1pm and features a variety of contemporary performances, including sound, movement and visual art. GAIPscape, convened by Ren Walters, will take place in the Town Hall between 3-6pm. The personnel assembling is looking a lot like THIS Ensemble, who haven’t performed publicly since 2016. All performances are free.
Video and photos from a very special instalment of Quiet Noise on 17 March 2018. Music from Snacks, Simon Charles & ensemble, Ernie Althoff and myself.

I’m playing a solo set at the Night Heron on Saturday 7 April, along with ZÖJ (Gelareh Pour & Brian O’Dwyer) and Daniel Tucceri.
Gelareh has one of those special voices. When you hear her sing, you know it is a privilege to be in the same room as such a voice.
Taking inspiration, I will be using as source material flexi-discs featuring the voices of young women from Japan and Pakistan.
