I’m in Tasmania at the moment, in various places this week doing site-specific live projection and prepared turntable work. This is mostly towards developing new work, which will be presented live in coming months. Here are some photos of what I’ve been doing:
From next week, I will begin a two week residency at Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery to continue this and other work.
Video documentation of Moe Chee’s performance at Aeso Studio and in the surrounding streets and alleyways of Fitzroy, from last year.
Tarab – “An Incomplete Yet Fixed Idea” LP – Eamon Sprod excels in the careful arrangement of ‘sonic rubbish’; field recording-based compositions full of textural and sonic juxtapositions. This album draws on recording made from 2011 to 2016. Limited edition of 300 on 180 gram vinyl with download card, comes in a sleeve with minimalist artwork by Romain Cadihon.

Absurd Cosmos Late Nite “Final Lives” cassette – The final two live performances from Mark Groves’ conceptual solo project, recorded at Melbourne venues in 2017. This tape is a sweet addendum to the Absurd Cosmos Late Nite discography, the pineapple on your kebab if you will. Comes on Victoria Police interview tape in small envelope with Susan Sarandon insert.

Last month’s collaboration with Eamon Sprod was going to be my last Melbourne performance for a while, but an opportunity for a return bout of my improv duo with Paul Kidney is too good to refuse. We’ll be playing at Make It Up Club as part of night guest curated by Adam Gauci from Curse Ov Dialect.
Tuesday 12 September 2017, 9pm.
Make It Up Club, Bar Open (upstairs), 317 Brunswick St, Fitzroy.
Here’s some video of the first-time improvising trios that played at CURRENT 2015, last December at Cross Street. CURRENT is a roughly annual event organised by Ren Walters, built around new trios of improvisers. This instalment’s theme was young drummers matched with more…ahem…experienced players.
I joined Myfanwy Hunter and Zeke Ruckman for my trio, which is the last trio in the video from about 10:25.
